sculpture, Siena

sculpture, Siena

Siena is unbelievably stunning and strongly underadvertised (much less than Pisa, for example), which makes it even more impressive at the first visit.
i wonder if this expressive sculpture has something to do with Palio di Siena, the famous horse race in which "On the dangerous steeply-canted track, the riders are allowed to use their whips not only for their own horse, but also for disturbing other horses and riders."

very dramatic (a bit of Guernica?) and unusual.

When I was younger - and at the same time a horse - nobody ever used a whip for me.
